Congratulations to all of the new Notary Node operators!

All of these new operators have submitted the public key for their Notary Nodes, and all of those public keys have been officially added to the Komodo code base.

The fourth cohort of Notary Node operators will start actively notarizing when the upgrade to version 0.6.0 of the Komodo code base is made on June 14, 2020.

Komodo v0.6.0: Draconic Serpent Upgrade

A mandatory ecosystem upgrade to Komodo v0.6.0, the Draconic Serpent upgrade, will be activated at block height 1,922,000. This block will be mined on June 14, 2020, likely around 15:00 UTC.

Please make sure to upgrade to version 0.6.0 of the Komodo daemon prior to June 14. The upgrade is mandatory for all miners, exchanges, wallet providers, and all community members who are running a full node for the Komodo blockchain.

It's recommended that the update is made several days before the deadline, to make sure the upgrade is made smoothly for all nodes.

In addition to officially adding the newly-elected Notary Node operators to the network, v0.6.0 brings several other improvements and upgrades.

One major improvement that comes with the Draconic Serpent upgrade is optimized syncing of the Komodo blockchain, especially for the initial syncing process. The process is now faster and more reliable with recent optimizations and refactoring.

Another improvement with Komodo v0.6.0 and the new dPoW season is that the Dev Team has audited and updated the Delayed Proof of Work (dPoW) client and Komodo core dependencies. This improves the general dPoW mechanism itself, as the threading system has undergone a code review to ensure the code is free of critical bugs.

Komodo CTO Kadan Stadelmann noted the importance and longevity of dPoW, saying that “For more than 4 years, we’ve been protecting the Komodo blockchain, as well as dozens of third-party blockchains, with delayed Proof of Work (dPoW) technology to protect against 51% attacks and the threat of double spending. It’s the first and most successful technology of its kind.”

“I’d like to thank all of the Notary Node operators, as well as the rest of the Komodo ecosystem, including miners, developers, exchanges, wallet providers, and other community contributors, as well as the Bitcoin miners and BTC community” he added. “Without all of you, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
