Komodo Wallet (web) v0.6.0 Is Live!
Komodo Wallet (web) v0.6.0 is available now! This release includes several important updates, including the addition of a fiat on-ramp feature, NFT wallet feature, improved DEX network layer, significant performance enhancements, and more.
Fiat On-ramp Feature
The fiat on-ramp is the most notable upgrade for Komodo Wallet (web) users. It’s now possible to buy crypto with fiat currencies via our web app. There are two fiat on-ramp service providers:
The first provider is Ramp, a platform which is available in 150+ countries and regions. Ramp Network supports 40+ fiat currencies and 90+ cryptocurrencies.
The second provider is Banxa, a platform which has processed approximately $3 billion in transactions to date and processes a new transaction every four seconds on average.
NFT Feature
The NFT feature allows web app users to send, receive and view the transaction history for their NFTs on supported blockchain networks. The list of networks currently includes Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche, and Fantom.
Users are now shielded from phishing and spam NFTs via the address poisoning filter. NFTs detected by our systems as malicious or spam will be hidden from the user’s wallet.
Komodo DeFi Framework 2.0 NetID Migration
As we announced on December 6th, The Komodo development team has recently refactored (optimized) the entire network infrastructure of Komodo DeFi Framework, which is used by Komodo Wallet’s decentralized exchange (DEX).
This upgrades Komodo Wallet’s DEX to the latest stable version of libp2p and introduces a streaming data capability that allows apps to subscribe to DeFi Framework events in order to receive real-time updates on blockchain (and DEX) activities, including the notification of new transactions or blocks.
For Komodo Wallet (web), the NetID migration has already been automatically integrated into the.v0.6.0 release. There is no action required from web app users.
Anyone who uses Komodo DeFi Framework, including but not limited to CLI users, 3rd party providers, et al, will need to change the Network ID number (NetID) from 7777 to 8762.
UI/UX Enhancements
- Significant performance improvements: We have implemented the most significant memory improvement to date — average memory usage has decreased by 70%. There is no plan to support it, but internal testing shows Komodo Wallet (web) runs well even on low-cost machines such as the $15 Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W mini computer.
- Wallet refresh: Users wanting to clear their coins list and start fresh can now do so with a simple click of a button from the settings menu. Previously, the user needed to export, delete, and re-import their wallet to achieve something similar. These many improvements under the hood address some serious technical debt.
- Significant load time improvements: App load time has been significantly improved.
Other Bug Fixes and Improvements
- A new open-source Flutter library (Dragon Logs) was released for efficient logging in Flutter apps.
- Enhanced swap pre-validation: Previously, we had a small (but significant) percentage of user’s swaps failing because their device’s time was incorrect. Now, the user will be alerted if their time is incorrect. This saves users the inconvenience of starting the swap, finding out several minutes later that the swap failed, and then waiting for the funds to be recovered.
- Various improvements in tests and CI automation will streamline future deployments. Details about public access to early Komodo Wallet (web) dev builds to follow.
