QRC20 Support Now Available

Qtum (QTUM) was initially listed on the AtomicDEX mobile app (available on iOS and Android) in June 2019 and on the AtomicDEX desktop app (available on macOS, Windows, and Linux) in June 2020.

As previously mentioned in Komodo’s July 2020 monthly report,

The Komodo business development team has reached out to Qtum to explore ways of further collaboration and has decided to integrate full QRC20 support. This will enable QRC Standard Tokens and the general blockchain ecosystem to build cross-chain and cross-protocol DeFi solutions with AtomicDEX.

A lot of integration work has been happening since then to make QRC20 integration possible. According to Komodo CTO Kadan ‘ca333’ Stadelmann,

Since Qtum is an entirely new protocol integration, Komodo developers had to extend Komodo AtomicDEX API to achieve interoperability. This included a general update of the AtomicDEX config scheme and additional methods and handlers such as the QRC20 protocol definition. QRC20 integration is a great example of how flexible AtomicDEX is and an excellent showcase of how efficiently new protocols can be added.

The goal of Qtum is to build a "bridge between the Bitcoin and Ethereum communities, the real world and blockchain world." Adding QRC20 support to Komodo AtomicDEX API and the end-user applications is another step towards the shared vision of Komodo and Qtum to bring blockchain ecosystems together. Jordan Earls, co-founder of Qtum commented,

AtomicDEX's integration of the QRC20 standard couldn't have come at a better time for our ecosystem. Qtum is thrilled to see how AtomicDEX's wallet and atomic swap technology will compliment all the infrastructure being built around decentralized finance.

This is the first DeFi collaboration of its kind and made possible with Komodo’s atomic swap technology. QRC20 projects can now use Komodo AtomicDEX API for wallet integrations as well as DEX or dApp solutions. This integration gives QRC20 projects instant wallet functionalities and a cross-chain and cross-protocol interop-layer/bridge.
